A bluesy/funky rock track that we think is quite catchy. The first one we wrote.
We make rock with a groove.
THIRD SUMMER are a rock band from the UK. We're heavily influenced by good music, and not influenced at all by bad music.
Our first cd is now complete, and all the songs are here for you to play (if you like 'em!). We recorded it live, so what you hear is what you get, warts and all.
Feel free to visit our official website, and sign up to the forum, which all 3 of us frequent. Play the music loud and don't forget to put on your best dancing trousers!
Story behind the song
DEAD IN THE WATER
Jamie -
" Like quite a few of the songs, this grew out of a guitar riff I had been playing about with. We worked with it a bit, then I recorded a very rough demo
so we wouldn't forget what we settled on in rehearsals. Lyrically it's not nice and warm and fuzzy-feeling (although it's got a positive ending).
But then, life isn't nice and warm and fuzzy feeling, is it? Except perhaps the smaller forms of animal life, like rabbits, or hamsters.
And it's probably quite difficult to write a song about hamsters with any real emotion, unless you're 8 years old, or Richard Gere. "
Martin -
" I think this is the first track we played together. One of Jamie's groovy babies, and a really good one to play. This song is the only one we added an overdub to,
which is the first part of the guitar solo. Jamie had an idea for it, which sounded good to me, so we recorded it, and I think the contrast between my playing, and his, works like a charm ! "
Paul -
" Always been a busy song for me, in rehearsals it was toms and cymbals all over the place and so I kept it the same for the recording.
For me the drum track is a tribute to Jerry Gaskill, a drum hero of mine! "
